Before Turning On The Planer
1. Always wear safety glasses when operating any machinery. 2. Only plane clean lumber. Lumber with dirt, loose knots, nails, etc... should not be run through the planer. 3. Adjust planer to proper depth of cut. Operating The Thickness Planer 1. Limit depth of cut to 1/16 of an inch or less. 2. Only plane one piece at a time. 3. Do not stand directly in front of or behind planer while in operation, stand to the side. 4. Keep hands away from stock as it is feeding into the planer. Once the planer takes the work, let go! 5. Do not adjust depth of cut while stock is feeding through planer. 6. Do not plane stock shorter than 10 inches. 7. When finished turn off planer, and keep area clear until blade comes to a stop. 8. Never surface lumber less than 1/4” thick unless a backing board is used. 9. Do not lean down to look at stock as it is traveling through the planer. Chips knots, or pieces may fly out. |
